Rental Style Vol. 2

I'm loving today's Rental Style space! It's fresh, casual, yet has interest through incorporating natural wood and black for just enough contrast!

sofa // coffee table // side table // chair // rug // daybed // art // pillow 1 2 3 4

The daybed is a bit of a splurge, but it is massive - so it's basically a second sofa! Plus the rug is such a good deal, so it's all about moderation! Hope you enjoy!

Friday Five | 08.18.17

H&M is my go to for affordable pillows with great quality! Here are a few of my recent favorites!

I love a large living room statement cocktail table in the living room - one of my favorite ways to get the look for less is to bunch several smaller (less expensive) tables together.

Like shown in image below (this is a model home that I designed last year.)

Get the look here

I love following the Minimalist Baker! Makes me long for my oven back and fall (love roasted veggies!)

Please pin from original source, here, thanks!

Love the mix here! GREAT chairs too!!

Please pin from original source, here, thanks!

My favorite super soft fleece jacket came out in a moto jacket style - I just ordered!! (size small, I'm typically a small in jackets and medium or small in tops)

We're making good progress on our lower bathroom! We're tiling all the walls floor to ceiling - SO labor intensive, but looks SO good! I plan to share an update next week!

Rental Style Vol. 1 (a new series!)

Inspired by our current work / living situation - I decided to start a new series - mood boards with affordable finds!

If you've been following along for a while - than you know that we move every few years for David's job. For the last couple of months we've been in transition-  David's been working a few hours away and we've been back and forth. We should know soon where we'll be for the next few years and that has me thinking about renting again and what our place might look like (though, probably with a little less pink, per David's request :)
sofa // rug // coffee table // chair // pillow 1 and 2 // hexagon side table

I'm loving the global vibe and I'm obsessed with the rug (super affordable too!) The chair is a little bit of a splurge, but it has great style, so I say worth it (especially, since it's on sale now). Using less expensive items and spending on statement pieces is a great way to get the look you want while staying in budget.

I hope you enjoy the new series! Want to see me design a room around a specific piece? Let me know in the comments!

Kitchen Reno Update!

Hi all! I hope you had a great weekend! Our kitchen renovation has been a slow process (we started tearing out the tile flooring over a year ago and moved onto other things!), but we are in the last few weeks - I cannot wait! We've been without a real kitchen for a while - SO excited for our new and improved kitchen!

You may remember this mood board that I shared the other week.

We'll keep the base white (it's pretty dark here, so we want to keep everything as light as possible - including adding lots of additional sources of light - sconces, under cabinet, pendants). And adding contrast and warmth with pops of black and accents of natural wood.

Here's what it looked like when we moved in.

It was so cramped and the layout of horrible! You couldn't have two people work in there at one time - having ample clearance between countertops so that two people can easily walk past each other (42" is a good measurement) makes a kitchen so much more functional.

We installed hardwood into the kitchen and refinished the floors - since then the floors have been stained - all cabinets removed and most of the painting and drywall are up! So excited to fill this blank slat!!

We're working with Home Depot and I love how it's coming together! Here are a few renderings!

We'll be using KraftMaid cabinets, Silestone quartz countertops, Samsung black stainless appliances

If you couldn't tell from above I'm just a little excited :) I can't wait to see how it comes together! Stay tuned!!
